About the Vice Chancellor:

Professor Pandey has served in various administrative positions including President NIIT University, Neemrana, Founder Vice Chancellor, ITM University Gwalior, Director, University Institute of Technology, Director, Institute of Physics and Electronics: Director, University Computer Centre; Director, Research and Development; Dean, Faculty of Science; Member of the Executive Council Member of the Board of Governors at University Institute of Technology, Bhopal, member of BoG at NIT, Jamshedpur etc.

Professor Pandey has played leading role as an Institution builder. He conceptualized and implemented several industry linked programs in data science, business analytics, cyber security etc at NIIT University as well as fostered academic collaboration with several leading Universities in USA. As founder Vice Chancellor, he was instrumental in framing statutes and ordinances, administrative rules and processes, new academic and developmental programs, collaborations and fostering research activities. At Bhopal University Prof Pandey established and developed a large number of teaching and research programs such as M. Tech Materials Science, M Tech/PG Diploma in Nanotechnology Program, M Tech Computer Science and Engineering, M Tech IT, M Tech, Product Design; MCA and BE Civil Engineering program, Masters’ programs in Computer Science, Electronics and Information Technology, Industrial Mathematics etc. He has taught several courses in these areas and also guided a large number of projects of students at M.Tech and M.Sc. level. He also established the Instrument Maintenance Facility at Barkatullah University funded by the U.G.C, New Delhi. He has also initiated a number of self-supporting programs in the University and generated resources of several tens of crores through self finance, sponsored research and innovative teaching programs.

Professor Pandey has been a distinguished researcher and academician. His research work has been extensively cited with the SC index of over 1700. He has authored one book for Marcel Dekker, USA, edited a proceeding for Elsevier, USA, published one review, over 100 original research papers in international journals of repute, and presented more than 150 papers in National and International Conferences as invited speaker. His research interests are in the field of Nano science and Technology, Electrodeposition Technology, Semiconductor Devices, Solar Cells, Sensors, and Materials Science. He is a leading researcher in electrochemical and chemical deposition of materials and developed several novel strategies for fabricating IR detectors, solar cells, multi-layered nanostructures, self-organised quantum dots, thermoelectric coolers, multifunctional Nanostructures etc. He has also developed from ab- initio, a research laboratory for growth and characterization of materials with state of art facilities.

Professor Pandey’s research has received international recognition. He has been invited as Visiting Professor, Senior JSPS Fellow, UNESCO-ICTP visiting Scientist, Course Director and invited Speaker to several Universities and organizations in Japan, U.S.A., Italy, Singapore, Malaysia etc. He also established research collaborations with Universities in U.K, Japan and Israel. Prof Pandey is the recipient of the prestigious Platinum Jubilee Lecture Award at the 94th Session of the Indian Science Congress and ENEA award from the European Nuclear Energy Agency. He was elected as the President of the Materials Science Section, Indian Science Congress, 2005-06. Prof. Pandey is a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India. Professor Pandey is in the panel of reviewers of a number of international research journals. He was also actively involved in the development of Physics curriculum and teaching programs at the School level in Madhya Pradesh and edited science text book for IX high school students that was published by the M P Text Book Corporation, Bhopal.

Prof Pandey has also supervised 26 doctoral students, completed 18 research projects as principal investigator. He has also been the coordinator of the prestigious Special Assistance program, the COSIST program, and two Innovative Programs in Nanotechnology and Electronics funded by the UGC, New Delhi. Prof Pandey is a member of the expert panel for the Technology Angel Programme of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi He has also served as Consultant to several Industries.

Prof. Pandey takes keen interest in Indian Culture, scientific heritage, philosophy and astrology and their relevance in the modern context.
