3rd National Seminar(Day 2) - School of Law (18 Feb,2017)


The Valedictory ceremony of School of Law, IMS Unison University’s third National Seminar 2017 on “SURROGACY: ETHICAL, LEGAL, SOCIO-ECONOMIC ISSUES” started with introductory remarks by Dr. Brijmohan Dimri, Dean School of Law who spoke on the significance of motherhood.

Dr. Saroj Bora, Seminar Director and Head School of Law presented a brief report on the seminar. Eighty participants from IIT Kharagpur, Punjab University, AMU, RMNLU Lucknow, HNLU, Amity Noida, Jaipur, Lucknow, Symbiosis Pune presented papers in the seminar. Spread over two days and five brainstorming technical sessions chaired by eminent Chairpersons, the seminar facilitated the exchange of views and provided a good opportunity to foster networking and sharing of knowledge. She also declared that the best papers, recommended by the Chairpersons, will be published in the next issue of Pragyaan Journal of Law. 

Dr. R. K. Pandey, Vice Chancellor declared the seminar a roaring success. Chancellor, Dr. M.P.Jain applauded the delegates who travelled from far and wide to learn and interact with others. He was happy to announce that the collective capital of student, faculty and audience paved the way for a fruitful discussion.
The Chief Guest gracing the Valedictory ceremony was Lt. General M C Badhani, an experienced military engineer who had taken over the reins of the elite Border Road Organisation. He stated that surrogacy is not new to India and cautioned that one law cannot suffice for all and that individual cases must be studied for their merits and demerits. He appreciated the choice of topic of the seminar and encouraged young students to have discussions on such relevant and contemporary topics.

The Valedictory Ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Organizing Secretary, Mr. Shoaib Mohammad. He thanked the delegates, faculty members and student volunteers in making the seminar a success. Certificates were distributed to delegates who attended and presented papers in the seminar.

Day 2 of the seminar had three technical sessions on the themes of ‘International Dimensions and Regulations of Surrogacy’, ‘Globalization and Transnational Surrogacy’ and ‘Surrogacy: Law and Psychological Aspects.’ The seminar gave room for discussion and deliberations on thrust areas concerning surrogacy. The sessions were chaired by Dr. Rajesh K. Bahuguna, Principal and Dean, Law College, Uttaranchal Institute Dehradun and Mr. J.K Jain, a leading senior advocate of the city.
