Sportathlon 2017- Day 1 (21 Feb,2017)

The 3-day Annual Sports Meet of IMS Unison University Dehradun “Sportathlon 2017” started with great zeal on 21st February 2017. The inaugural ceremony was held at the Pavilion Ground located at the heart of the city. Students tuned up in large numbers to participate in the Sports Meet in their track suits and sports gears.

The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony was Dr. M.P. Jain, Hon’ble Chancellor, IMS Unison University. The event began with the hoisting of the University Flag by the Chief Guest, and the Vice Chancellor of the University. The Flag hoisting was followed by an assembly of all the Schools of the University and the singing of the National Anthem by everyone. Students from all the schools looked smart and disciplined while representing their respective schools. The students took an oath to abide by the rules and keep up the true spirit of sportsmanship.

Dr. M.P. Jain, Chancellor of the University, addressed the students and emphasized upon the importance of sports. He said it is more important to participate than to win or lose. He went on to say that the Sports Meet aids in the holistic development of the students, which also happens to be one of the prime objectives of IMS Unison University. Dr. R.K. Pandey, Vice Chancellor of the university conveyed his best wishes to all the students and emphasized on the importance of sports in one’s life. He declared the sports meet open by releasing colorful balloons, amidst cheers from all the students of the university.

Events that took place on Day 1 of Sportathlon 2017 were Football, Kabaddi, Tug of War and Short Put, with students putting their best possible sporty sides on the field.

Football:  School of Law (Winner), School of Mass Communication (Runner Up).

Tug of War: Boys- School of Management (Winner), School of Mass Communication (Runner Up)

Girls- School of Management (Winner), School of Mass Communication (Runner Up)

Kabaddi: Boys- School of Management (Winner), School of Mass Communication (Runner Up)

Girls- School of Mass Communication (Winner), School of Law (Runner Up)

Short Put: Boys- School of Law (Winner), School of Management (Runner Up)
Girls- School of Management (Winner), School of Management (Runner Up)
