Guest Lecture by Mr. Ramesh Bhatt in School of Mass Communication (13 Nov,2017)

Mr. Ramesh Bhatt, Senior Journalist & Media Advisor of the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, delivered a special guest lecture to a packed hall on November 13, 2017. The lecture was organized by the School of Mass Communication (SOMC) keeping in line with its policy of providing first hand media exposure to the students. Dr. Sushil Rai, Head School of Mass Communication, faculty members and students participated in the program.

In his welcome speech, Dr. Sushil Rai said, “The sole objective of journalism is to bring out the truth and ensure that the important issues and challenges of society are highlighted. Simultaneously, it is also true that Journalism itself is facing major professional challenges in the phase of corporatization of media”.
In his dynamic address, Mr. Ramesh Bhatt opined that journalism is a very serious profession and requires a high level of determination and dedication. He said that a good journalist never reacts but only acts after carefully considering all facts in an unbiased manner. He stressed on the need to be alert at all times. In his characteristic witty style of oration, he narrated several incidents from his journalistic career that were challenging yet stimulating which received bouts of thunderous applause from the students. Finally, Bhatt urged the students to work diligently and single-mindedly in pursuit of their goals in the profession.  The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Nungshithoibi Singha, faculty, SoMC.

Mr. Ramesh Bhatt, a renowned journalist, former News Anchor of Lok Sabha TV, a former Editor at News Nation, is currently positioned as the Media Advisor of the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
