The MA (Journalism and Mass Communication) program offered by the University is a two-year program spread over four semesters.

The course is aimed at provide students with an intensive and integrated media education that enables students to develop their individual expertise and skills. It is designed to provide strong functional skills and the ability to apply, adapt and integrate those skills in different media settings. It also prepares them to work as transcribers of the aspirations of the society and also as a catalyst of change.

The attempt at the IUU School of Mass Communication is to create competent and thoughtful media practitioners whose engagement with the world of media is both professional and intellectual.
A degree in Journalism and Mass Communication opens varied professional and creative opportunities in Journalism (Print, TV, Radio and Web), Radio Production, Television Production Creative Writing, Content Writing, Digital Marketing, Advertising, Public Relation, Corporate Communication, Event Management, Photojournalism, Photography and Film Production.

On completion of their course, media aspirants can look forward to working the following profiles: Reporter (Print, TV, Radio and Web), Editor, Content Writer, Digital Marketer, TV Producer, Production Assistant, Radio Jockey, Video Jockey, Screenwriter, Video Editor, Anchor, Communication Officer, Public Relation Officer (PRO), Event Manager etc.

The IUU School of Mass Communication is equipped with the latest technical infrastructure and production facilities. Classrooms are well equipped with LCD Projectors with audio-visual systems. The school is constantly seeking to upgrade its production facilities in order to keep pace with the changing technological demands of the media profession. The School has well equipped Print Lab, TV Studio, Radio Studio, Digital Photography Lab and Computer Lab to provide hand on training to prepare the students as per current requirements of the media organizations.

As part of their curriculum, students are required to intern with a media organization of their choice to gain practical hands-on experience and benefit from networking opportunities. It provides a valuable platform to orient the students with different media functions in eminent organizations. The internship duration is usually of 4 weeks.

Each student on completion of the Internship Program submits a project report under the guidance of a mentor from the associated company and the institute. This project report is followed by a presentation by each student using AV aids, as part of his/her curriculum.
