Two Days Training Program on Outcome Based Education (OBE) organized by IQAC

A two-day workshop on Outcome Based Education (OBE) was organized by the IQAC on 1st & 2nd April 2022, at Seminar Hall, Block-5 of the University. The workshop was attended by Prof. Gautam Sinha (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. Ravikesh Srivastava (Pro-Vice Chancellor), Prof. Santanu Roy (Dean-SOM), Prof. Amit Adlakha (Dean-SOL), Prof. Sushil Kumar Rai (Dean-SOMC), Prof. Vinay Rana (Dean-SOHM), Prof. Madhu Prabhakaran (Dean-SOLA) and all the faculty members of all schools of the university.

On day one, the introductory remark was given by Prof. Ravikesh Srivastava (Pro-Vice Chancellor) who threw light upon the importance of Outcome Based Education for higher education institutions. Thereafter the keynote speaker, Prof. Sandeep Saxena enlightened the participants about different aspects of OBE. He said that OBE being an educational approach and a learning philosophy, focuses on organizing the entire academic program and instructional efforts around clearly defined outcomes that the university expects to provide to the students after the completion of the program and OBE goes beyond usual ‘structural tasks.’ Further Professor Santanu Roy (Dean-SOM) shared his valuable inputs about the OBE and how it can be facilitated in the university.

On day two, the focus area of discussion was on the formation of POs, PEOs, and COs in the academic curriculum. Prof. Sandeep Saxena, Director IQAC, elaborated upon the methodologies of framing the POs, PEOs, and COs. He also informed the participants about measuring the attainment of each of these through assessment and evaluation of students’ performance in continuous evaluation and end-term examinations. A healthy participation was observed, and it turned out to be an enriching experience as it provided participants with much-needed guidance for better teaching, learning, and evaluation process with OBE. Refreshments were distributed after the conclusion of the said sessions.
