Valedictory Ceremony of 6th National Moot Court Competition-2018

The jubilant 6th National Moot Court Competition at IMS Unison University came to an end today in the Valedictory ceremony embellished by Chief Guest Honorable Mr. Justice U.C. Dhayani, Chairman, Uttarakhand Public Service Tribunal, Dehradun.

 

The ecstatic Day 3 of this mega-event began with the ostentatious Semi Final round. The teams came up with extremely novel and onerous arguments, and the top four teams which inexorably presented their disputation to the judges and answered their profound and arduous questions with their skillful advocacy and precisely contrived arguments as two teams who victoriously advanced to the Finals

 

The Judges for today’s exuberant Semi Final Rounds included eminent and respected advocates in Dehradun: Advocate Aman Rab, Advocate Chitra Rab, Advocate Anil Kukreti, amongst others.

 

The beguiling Final Round advanced with the participants from the top two teams launching into a show of strenuous argumentation. The teams showed perceptible mettle and vigor. The effervescent teams left no stone unturned as they sprinted on each other with ingenuity and inventiveness. The esoteric questions of the judges kept the participants on the ball as they prudently faced every logistic and exigency. The dynamic show of this intriguing session was filled with facts, proficient foreplay of arguments, profound knowledge of law points, landmark case laws. The Finals witnessed everything from perseverance to skirmish.

 

The Judges for today’s zealous Final Rounds included the most senior and respected advocates in Dehradun: Mr. V. K. Maheshwari, Former Registrar General, High Court, Uttarakhand, Senior Advocate Mr. Tanveer Alam Khan, Dr. Saroj Bohra, Head Of Department, School Of Law, IMS Unison University, Dehradun.

 

The exultant Finals were followed by the Valedictory and prize Distribution ceremony. Dr. Saroj Bohra., Head of Deaprtment, School of Law warmly welcomed the Chief Guest Honorable Mr. Justice U.C. Dhayani, Chairman, Uttarakhand Public Service Tribunal, Dehradun, and participants on behalf of the University. Dr. R. K. Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, IMS Unison University motivated the participating teams by reiterating the fact that failure is a stepping stone to success and congratulated everyone for their participation. He congratulated to all the teams, since it’s a competition there shall be one winner and success and failures are part of life. Each failure is step to be successful. Ms. Shalini Saxena, Convener, Moot Court Society presented report of the two day competition.

 

The keynote address was delivered by Honorable Mr. Justice U.C. Dhayani, Chairman, Uttarakhand Public Service Tribunal, Dehradun. He stated the importance of persuasive power of an advocate and also mentioned about the significance of legal applications. He further, iterated the key points which are necessary for the formulation of a good advocate and the necessity of judicious knowledge of facts and legal dialect.

 

The much awaited results were announced in the following categories:

 

Winner Team – Jamia Millia Islamia (Received a cash prize of Rs.15,000 and 1 year SCC access card worth Rs. 66,000)

 

Runner up team – CNLU Patna (Received a cash prize of Rs. 8,000 and 6 months SCC access card worth Rs. 33,000)

 

1st Runner Up- ULIS, Punjab University (They received a trophy and a 3 months event knowledge partner SCC online access card worth Rs. 18,000)

 

2nd Runner Up- Prestige Institute of Management and Research (Dept.of Law)

 

Best Mooter (Male) – Shantanu Sharma (Jamia Milia Islamia)

 

Best Mooter (Female) – Janhavi (Galgotias University, Greater Noida)

 

Best Memorial – New Law College BVDU, Pune (Received a cash prize of Rs. 3,000)

 

Best Researcher – Dhanya Dheekshitha.K.H (Received a cash prize of Rs. 3,000)

 

The Faculty Co -Convener Ms. Jahanvi Mongia, expressed thanks and gratitude to the sponsors, participants and the organizing team for successfully conducting this mega event. She invited all the participants to meet again in 2018 in the 7th edition of National Moot Court Competition that School of Law, IMS Unison University proposes to hold.

 

The three- day event witnessed participation of 34 teams from reputed Universities and Colleges from all over the country including National Law University Ranchi, Amity University, Kolkata, Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, Jaipur National University, Rizvi Law College, Mumbai, CNLU Patna, UPES Dehradun, School Of Excellence Chennai, Aligarh Muslim University beside others.
