A one-day industrial visit to the Dainik Jagran Printing Press, Selaqui, was organized by School of Mass Communication on April 26. Students from both Bachelors and Masters Courses of SOMC were part of the visit.
S.B Pandey, the Technical Head at the Printing Press briefed the students on the workings of the Press and newspaper production. Pandey spoke about co-ordination between the Editorial team along with the team at the printing department. He said that printing is done for the local edition of the Dainik Jagran newspaper, Times of India and iNEXT newspaper at the press. The process of printing of newspapers was demonstrated to the students which included cutting of newspaper rolls, stacking and finally distribution for sale and delivery. Pandey explained how the colours CMYK are mixed in order to produce colors in the newspaper. The support staff also engaged with the students.
The interactive visit culminated with a question and answer session. Students thanked the authorities for their patience. Overall, it was an enriching experience for students who were able to witness first hand the functioning of a Printing Press.
